About me

Serial CTO & Founder

Product-Obsessed Technologist connecting FinTech, Blockchain, Security & AI

I’ve spent the past two decades shaping and leading high-performing software engineering teams, joining London’s start-up scene in 2013 to explore the intersection of FinTech, Blockchain, Security and AI. My product-centric work has consistently focused on connecting these technologies to real-world applications, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and customer experience.

At my core, I’m a lifelong coder and ethical hacker. I’ve been an active member of the infosec and hacking community for years, regularly participating in Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions and leaderboards, conducting security research, and contributing to vulnerability disclosure programs.

My late nights are spent on a mix of security research, reverse engineering challenges, and exploring new attack vectors—not just for the thrill, but because understanding how systems break is fundamental to building resilient ones. This security-first mindset has shaped every engineering organization I’ve led, from my Italian origins in the Venice area to joining London’s startup scene in 2013. My journey has been driven by curiosity, craftsmanship, and an innate passion technology and security.

Experience Highlights

Over the years, I’ve scaled engineering organizations from intimate 12-person teams to 60+ engineers distributed across the world working on architectures ranging from distributed systems processing billions of event streams to data infrastructure managing petabytes—systems that need to run reliably at scale, not just theoretically.

In 2019, I co-founded PortIT to solve a problem I’d observed firsthand: the friction between traditional banking rails and blockchain infrastructure. We built modular technology that actually bridges these worlds, focusing on compliance, reliability, and developer experience. Before that, I spent five years as Head of Engineering at a London challenger bank, where I learned that fintech innovation lives or dies on trust, uptime, and regulatory precision.

My security background has been invaluable in the FinTech and blockchain space, where threat modeling and security architecture aren’t optional extras—they’re existential requirements. From implementing secure key management systems for cryptocurrency wallets to designing zero-trust architectures for banking infrastructure, I’ve applied offensive security thinking to build defensive systems that actually hold up against real-world attackers.

Early in my career, I won the Golden APEX Award in 2012 for digital signage innovation deployed in luxury retail environments for brands like Bulgari and Benetton. It taught me that technology means nothing if it doesn’t serve the end user - a philosophy that’s stayed with me through two decades of building software.
